CV Lex Rijkels
Head of reservoir engineering (2013-2017):
• Technical authority for Maersk’s Danish Business Unit, responsible for quality assurance of all reservoir engineering deliverables.
• Petrel RE focal point; workflows to deal with tilting fluid contacts, PVT gradients and hydraulic fractures. Implemented and supported experimental design in a number of studies.
• Subsurface lead for DBU’s master development plan. Developed maturation strategy for full portfolio until end of license with links to technology plan.
Project manager for Tyra SE development (2010-2013):
• Initiated and matured through FID a USD 800 mln CAPEX project to develop 50 MMboe from a new 4-legged wellhead platform and 12 horizontal infill wells in Tyra SE’s Chalk reservoir.
• The project was completed on time, on budget, without incidents in Q1 2017, realizing P50 base production and the identified upside in the Chalk.
Team leader Tyra and satellites (2006-2012):
• Leading an integrated team of 12 subsurface staff, combined operations and studies. Structured well and reservoir management into a process delivering campaigns of coil tubing PLTs, restimulations, clean-outs and surveillance. Delivered multiple integrated FDPs.
Principal reservoir engineer for Shell in Damascus, Syria (2001-2006):
• Team leader of two field teams responsible for managing production from 850 mln bbl STOIIP through 76 wells; reservoir engineer in four study teams.
• Matured and delivered infill field development of 28 wells in faulted, fluvial reservoir under waterflood, using geostatistics and > 5,000 stochastic simulation runs to design the well pattern and injection strategy.
• Analysis of first 4D onshore seismic survey in Shell
• Identified the first field evidence of sweet water IOR in one field flooded with river water
Shell’s technology centers in the Netherlands (1994-2001):
• Reservoir engineer in asset studies of multi-billion bbl fractured carbonate oil fields
• Reservoir engineering focal point for carbonate flow units (matrix) research projects
• Technology development programmes for fractured reservoir simulation
