The capabilities of open source subsurface software continue to improve. With ResInsight’s Python API it is now possible to create geological models for simulation in Eclipse or OPM-Flow. Here is an example of the workflow.
We have also developed a completely parametrised simulation template for green field evaluation. This allows uncertainty modelling of a field with minimal input. No need to define PVT models, lift curves or SCAL: just modify the parameters and submit 10s or 100s of cases. Visualization included.
Both developments have been applied successfully in real field studies. Here is an example for a Norwegian field.
The tools have alo been used for fractured fields in the North Sea and the Middle East.
